IoT user community event
Interested in the Internet of Things? Want to learn more about open hardware design? On Thursday 26 February Verhaert will be hosting the next inspiring event of the Belgian Internet of Things community (IoTbe). Subscribe today and join the event for free.
Vibrant user community
The Belgian Internet of Things (IoTbe) is a vibrant user community of more than 700 members and aims to create an inspiring environment for disruptive innovation. The independent non-profit organization sets up monthly sessions to inspire others with IoT technologies, practices and insights. They want to cross-pollinate ideas from engineers, designers, researchers, data scientists and entrepreneurs to create meaningful solutions that will make information access more human, ubiquitous and commercially viable.
Open hardware design
The event aligns perfectly with Verhaert’s activities regarding innovation and connectivity. Therefore we are delighted to host this session on ‘Open hardware design’ in Kruibeke, with the following topics on the agenda.
1. Home and building automation products by Wilbert Ingels (OpenMotics)
Today, we see a lot of home and building automation products. Unfortunately most of them are fully closed in terms of sharing hardware and firmware. OpenMotics wants to give you an overview of the hardware design (schematics, PCB files, bill of material, firmware and software source code, different protocols) used to build a complete and professional building automation system.
2. IoT + IPD = IoUT by Rudy Van Raemdonck (Verhaert)
How can Integrated Product Development help you in building an Internet of Useful Things?
3. The micro-technologies landscape in Belgium by Olivier Gramaccia (Sirris)
In the last 10 years, The Internet of Things environment has been speed-up by the emergence of micro-technologies, nanoparticles, MEMS, micro-injection and microelectronic. Historically, Belgium is not recognized as a leader in micro technologies, but this could change soon with the emergence of new competences, R&D centers and start-up active in this field.
After the experts of OpenMotics, Verhaert and Sirris inspired us with their insights, we have an interactive discussion moderated by Tom De Ryck (Creatonics). We close the event with a network drink.
