Vake uses satellite imagery to automatically detect “dark vessels” (that manipulate or turn their AIS reporting off). By applying machine learning to Sentinel-2, we classify ships, sizes, and velocity. As this is possible on the medium resolution images, we, in turn, get a huge swath width and will provide near real-time response.
